New Britain Youth Museum and Hungerford Nature Center will be temporarily CLOSED until further notice.
We need your help.
The New Britain Youth Museum and Hungerford Nature Center are a children's museum and nature center serving the central region of Connecticut since 1956. We offer educational programming for both children and adults. We have a small but mighty staff that make both our sites an educational yet fun experience for thousands of children and adults a year. Additionally, our nature center is home to some 80 animals entrusted in our care. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to cancel all of our classes, special events and close the center to the public. We rely on these programs to pay our staff and run our facility. We need your help now! Please consider a tax deductible donation today to help us make it through these unprecedented times. Stay safe and thank you for your help.
GoFundMe will match up to $500 for non profits affected by the COVID 19 pandemic
The Hungerford Nature Center is seeking donations of flowers, including holly, mountain laurel, and rhododendron. Our current situation doesn’t allow us to purchase plantings needed to beautify our grounds. Please contact us at 860-827-9064.

Visit us today at our two sites. The Youth Museum, located behind the New Britain Public Library, is a fun, interactive space that offers programs on culture and arts for children and young adults.
The Hungerford Nature Center in Kensington is home to many domestic animals and native wild birds. There is a farm-yard, indoor exhibits, walking trails, and a picnic and play area.
