Volunteering

The New Britain Youth Museum and the Hungerford Park Nature Center are looking for volunteers. 

 

We are looking for people who have a few hours a week or a month, an interest in animals and/or the environment, and a desire to serve their community. 

We have a need for all types of skills, from animals to grounds keeping and office work.

 

Volunteer opportunities include:

Feeding Animals​

Office Work

Gardening

Special Events

Building Maintenance (carpentry, electrical, etc.)

Grounds Maintenance

 

Responsibilities vary depending on location.

Gardeners Needed!

Do you have a green thumb and like getting your hands dirty?

We need volunteers through the spring and summer to help maintain our herb and flowers gardens.

Friends of Hungerford Nature Center

Do you love the Nature Center but aren't interested in feeding animals or cleaning pens? Then consider joining the Friends of Hungerford Nature Center, the center's auxiliary volunteers.

Friends Special Events / Fundraisers COMING SOON

The Hungerford Nature Center, 191 Farmington Avenue in Kensington is seeking adult volunteers to greet visitors and answer phone calls.  Training will be offered. Available days are Tuesday through Friday and the hours are flexible between

10 am to 4:00 pm.
